Personal water conservation practices and habits are a great way to help protect our water resources. But if you want to make a big impact, you have to start thinking about ways you can encourage others to adopt similar practices. |

|
Start by talking with your family about what you can do to conserve water. Educate them about the small changes that can make a big difference in your water bill and the quality of the environment. Keep one another accountable, and work towards your water conservation goals together. Reward family members for their efforts when you see a difference on your water bill—they deserve it! |
You can also share your commitment to water conservation with friends and neighbors. Confront heavy users in your neighborhood, but be mindful of the fact that some people just don’t realize how much water they may be wasting. Present them with the facts and suggest several simple solutions. If all else fails, mention that in addition to protecting our environment, they will save money by cutting back on their water use! Lastly, support smart water policy. Water management is a responsibility entrusted not only to us, but also to our local governments, water supplier, and water regulator. Their decisions impact us all. When you think a change is needed or that policy is being incorrectly implemented, speak up. By expressing your opinion, real change can be made. |
